Demonstration of New 3 Dimensional Video Overlay Technology
What you see here is live camera video superimposed onto a searchable 3 dimensional map. This new technology has been developed by researchers at a major US university and is being offered for sale as an OEM add on to existing video management systems by HauteSpot Networks.
The technology combines GPS location and other Meta Data with 3 dimensional models such as Google Earth, Terra Server or Bing Maps. This allows users to search in real time to find IP cameras and then overlay the live streaming image from the cameras over the map. This can be alarm driven, or can be directed by the user. Cameras can be controlled for features such as pan, tilt and zoom. Alarms and analytic data can be passed from the cameras to the application and displayed. The system can be interconnected to database applications such as EMS, traffic, weather or other tracking information.
The system is scalable from 1 to thousands of cameras in a very flexible architecture which can be implemented as a turnkey system or as Software As A Service. Think of this as the "Petapixel" image system, which seamlessly interconnects all of your cameras for complete situational awareness.
The system is currently a client server application. In the near future as browser based architecture will be available.
