Follow the directions that came with the router. This sounds sarcastic, but most users never read the manual. Start there.
As a general rule, connect your wireless router to your wired network using the provided Ethernet port.
Place the wireless router as close to the center of your coverage area as possible.
Align your antennas straight up and down. Your antennas radiate in a pattern like a pancake. They typically have a 8-20 degree vertical beam width radiating out from the center of your antenna. So if you turn the antennas at an angle, you are shooting your signal up into the roof and down into the ground.
